Found this today and it worth the 3:05. Have a great weekend.

Weekend thought…
“Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”
~George Bernard Shaw
Interesting weekend read at the Wall Street Journal on a bond-trading specialist from Cantor Fitzgerald that wants to treat casinos like the stock market.
With the latest of the steroid revelations, I was glad to see Fisk blast McGwire, Clemens and other PED users. Fisk was a household name in my house even before he joined the White Sox (the parents are from Boston). PEDs are a real problem with the sport and will continue to dog the MLB until there is real transparency. As I stated in a previous post, the PED issue has impacted the best in the game. I hope that more Hall of Famers like Fisk come forward and denounce the frauds and cheaters.

Before elaborating, I love the Beach Boys. They were a big part of my childhood summers and one of 3 cassette tapes that were allowed in my Mom’s yellow VW Bus.
That said, their take on traditional Christmas standards is terrible. As children, my siblings and I were forced to listen to this terrible, terrible album. As we got older, copies would go missing only to be found. Later, copies were thrown into the Mississippi River only to have new tapes re-purchased. A few years ago, a CD copy showed up in my stocking. It ended up being left at the in-laws. Even “Little Saint NicK” sounds better when covered by the Muppets. Beach Boys are summer. Christmas is Christmas. So have your self a merry little Christmas, forget this album.

My toddler-aged son has loved the climbing walls at various playgrounds around Seattle this summer. With the start of the rain, which should stop sometime in April, the playgrounds have been a little wet and cold. I wanted to encourage this new love since it combines physical and metal challenges and came up with the idea of building an indoor climbing wall. I did not want to get too over the top with bolting boards to my new refinished basement.
Instead, I thought that attaching a 3/4″ plywood board to the Bowflex might be a better bet. A little online research led me to some great instructions at Three Ball Climbing. REI had a very reasonable set of bolt-on chips by Metolius. It turned into a great father/son project. The only thing better was the boy getting all the way up to the top within the first ten or so tries.
Interesting article and graphic on coffee in today’s Seattle Times. I am partial to Kona with price being the only major obstacle to drinking it daily.
